Many of Data’s first attempts at humanity go… not so well…

Like his very first attempt at spontaneous idiomatic speech

mostly because of the unreceptive audience

or his first attempt at comedy

but

every now and then

we see someone believe in him

and he slowly begins to improve

becoming more loving

and, consequently, more lovable

and it all goes to show

you should never underestimate the power

of a little

friendly

encouragement.
